Announcement    Hi there and welcome to Le Dragon Argenté, the home of handmade precious metal geek jewellery! With styles from Geeky to High Fantasy to Celtic, you'll be sure to find something you'll love!

I'm Stephenie, the owner of Le Dragon Argenté. I specialize in geeky-themed jewellery featuring pieces based on video games, anime, sci-fi & fantasy genres based in Montreal, Quebec Canada – the jewellery manufacturing capital of Canada!

I've been a jeweller since 1998 and have been creating my own pieces since 2010. Many of my customers, like myself, suffer from metal allergies, so I offer them a chance to create jewellery for them in metal that won't cause sores and can be worn every day, in and out of the convention!

My passion lies in both vintage designs and creating pieces that embody the geeky elements that I love. I take pride in having control of the quality, materials and the ability to express my own fandom through my work.

A short and bizarre story about my start into my jewellery career

Shop members

  • Stephenie Denault

Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator, Slave To My Own Passion

My start in jewellery was a fluke! I was originally an art student, but found out about the jewellery trade school from a roommate. After 2 years of school, and 20+ years of experience in wholesale production, jewellery repair, etc, here I am!

Frequently asked questions

Does the items have tracking? When do you ship?

I ship by ChitChats here in Montreal on Fridays. The costs of shipping are calculated by the postal service. All orders come with tracking except for a few counties.

These countries do not have tracking available; Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burundi, Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Croatia, Cuba, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Liberia, Libya, Moldova, Montenegro, Myanmar (Burma), Nigeria, North Korea, Paraguay, Republic of the Congo, Russia, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Togo, Yemen, Zimbabwe.

For these countries, I recommend a DHL shipping upgrade to ensure its arrival. Also, be sure you pick a shipping upgrade for your country!

Do you do custom work? How long does it take?

Yes I do, and usually around 2 months to do depending on the time of the year and if I already have orders on my plate.

I do try to keep you up to date on the progress and send photos. So ask away! Also note I don't take custom orders during the holiday season due to work overload!

Sizing details

All my sizings are done using the standard US ring sizes. If you order the wrong size, please let me know. You can send it back, and I'll resize it for you. You'll have to cover the shipping costs back to me and return shipping to you, but I'm more than happy to help!

What are the types of metal used in your jewellery?

All the items I make are made in solid cast metal, never plated & are made free of nickel, zinc, or cadmium, which causes sores & rashes.

The sterling silver I use, or .925 silver as some know it as, is 92.5% fine silver and 7.5% copper which is the classic sterling silver. No rhodium or nickle plating! The antique bronze is a classic bronze that contains 90% copper and 10% tin.

Stainless steel is an affordable material to create hypoallergenic jewellery for those sensitive to costume jewellery. Stainless steel is a tougher material than gold and silver and is ideal for everyday wear for those that are hard on your jewellery.

I also offer the option of having my jewellery made in gold, in 10k, 14k, or 18k!

What are the differt stones you use? What is the difference between real gemstones & birthstones?

I use both natural gemstones as well as imitation birthstones in my shop.

The natural gemstones are named in the listing. Due to the fact the gemstones are natural, the color and clarity of stones can vary from one to the next. So if you want a particular shade, just ask! I try to stick to untreated natural colors the best I can.

In my shop Birthstones are imitations of the real gem in color and sometimes have the light performance of a natural gemstone. Most on the market are made of cubic zirconia, though there are lab-grown synthetics available on the market. I use cubic zirconia for my birthstones, and to make it easier for customers, I've marked imitation birthstones as the birth month.

I bought a silver ring from you and it left some green on my skin! Why and how do I fix it?

Oh no, I'm so sorry about that! It sounds like there might be some traces of the polishing compound I use to polish the jewellery left on the ring! It happens sometimes, and it's something I try to avoid being an issue, but for some rings it's hard to see!

It's definitely made in .925 sterling silver, which you can check by getting it tested at any jewellery store. I created my jewellery for everyday wear, and I personally wear my silver 25/7 shower & sleep and never take it off!

So all it needs is a quick wash with soap and hot water and it should be good to go. But if you need anything, or have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'm happy to help! And again, so sorry about that!

What is antique bronze? Will bronze turn my skin green & change color?

Antique bronze contains 90% copper and 10% tin. It's the same bronze used in ancient times to make swords, armour and statues!

Because bronze contains copper, it can turn your skin green whether you have an allergy or not. Bronze and copper turn your skin green because when the copper reacts with your sweat and the acids from your skin, it produces copper chloride. Copper chloride is a green substance that then rubs off on your skin. It's not a permanent staining though.

It will also naturally develop a patina over time. The tarnish, or patina, is caused by a chemical reaction between the various metals in the alloy, and acids or other corrosive materials. Acids in the skin can cause uneven tarnish from contact with your skin.

What is the return policy of your shop? What about gold?

My return policy is noted on all my listings and a copy is sent with your order invoice. I accept returns only as long as I am notified and is mailed back within 14 days of you receiving it in the original packaging and unworn condition and will be subject to a 15% restocking fee and any shipping fees & upgrades.

Unfortunately, gold jewellery is not eligible for returns due to its custom-made nature.

Customers are responsible for the return shipping costs and I will refund minus a 15% restocking fee and any shipping charges will be given once I've received it back in my shop in Canada. I must be contacted before attempting to return the item, or it will be considered a forced return, thus voiding the refund option.

Do you really make everything in your shop? Are you a wholesale import/dropship shop?

All the cast jewellery is made in my workshop, and unlike some shops people are finding on Etsy I'm not an overseas importer or do drop shipping!

Except for the actual casting process, everything else is done here by me in my shop. From the finishing work, to sanding, to setting the stones, to polishing, all my jewellery I make here! The exceptions are chains(I have suppliers for them for customers who want them) and the engraving is done by a traditional engraver who does the whole process by hand the old-fashioned way!

So I want you to feel confident when you shop from me, you're getting really handmade goods, not cheap plated knockoffs!
